Roderick Chambers

Roderick Chambers

Roderick Chambers, 38, of Miami, Fla., performed “Back at One” by Brian McKnight. Robert immediately showed off nice range and earned a quick chair turn from Nick Jonas. None of the other coaches turned, however, meaning Robert automatically became Team Nick. Nick said he was transported back to the first time he heard the song. He called the performance “phenomenal.”

Here’s more about Roderick:

* He began singing when he was young, often alongside his brother. Their inseparable bond grew stronger when Roderick was 4 and his brother saved him from drowning in a pool.

* They sang together in school chorus and later formed an R&B / pop trio called R-Styl.

* Based in South Florida, R-Styl stayed together for 17 years, according to Roderick’s Facebook page, opening for several well-known artists over the years.

* In 2008, the group performed the national anthem at the NBC finals in Miami.

* And in 2012, the R-Styl released an album called “Wanted” that’s still available on streaming sites.

* Roderick’s Facebook bio says R-Styl later joined a cover band and performed throughout the country at clubs, private parties, corporate events, and weddings.

* As we heard on the show, in 2015, Roderick — then married — decided to head to California to pursue a career as a solo artist.

* At shows — and he’s a very busy performer judging from his Instagram — he covers a wide range of artists, including Michael Jackson, BoysIIMen, Bob Marley and, yep, even Voice coach John Legend.

* Roderick describes those shows this way: “I would say my performances are an experience, a mood and a vibe. I mostly perform to be apart of something whether it be a dinner, reception, party etc., I add to the atmosphere and energy of what is already taking place to make the attendees feel good. I guess you can call me a mood enhancer.”

* He says he performs R&B, pop, reggae contemporary and classic jazz. “I don’t perform much of my original music because I love to perform songs that people know,” he told Voice Views.

Joey Sykes

I am a full time musician, born and raised in New York, currently living in L.A. I also spend time writing in Nashville.

Logging in one thousand live shows locally, I got my first real taste of the industry with the band Boystown. We signed a single deal in England with EMI, toured and recorded an album. My second break was a big one. I was lead guitarist/co-writer in the band Coward. In 1995, after only 6 months of playing around Manhattan, we managed to create a bidding war and ended up signing a record deal with Elektra Records. Shortly after signing the record deal, we signed a publishing deal with Warner-Chappel. We recorded our album in some of the world's best studios (Bearsville, Conway, Sear Sound) co-producing it with the late Jerry Finn (Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41, Rancid, Butch Walker), engineered by Sean O'Dwyer. When the Coward record came out in 1996; we made a video, appeared on MTV and toured (mainly with labelmates Third Eye Blind).

After Coward, I moved to California. I played lead guitar and was Musical Director for Capitol recording artistTommy Henriksen. The first single placed in the motion pictureBlast From the Past. After Tommy, I played guitar for Capitol recording artist Meredith Brooks ("I'm a Bitch").The band was massive; Herman Matthews on drums (Tom Jones, Tower of Power, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx), Will Hollis on keys (currently playing for The Eagles, Don Henley), Mark Meadows on bass (Edgar Winter, John Waite). It was with Meredith that I got to fulfill one of my childhood dreams, playing Madison Square Garden. We opened for The Eurythmics. I also played The Staples Center, did a bunch of TV shows (Jay Leno, Rosie O'Donnell, Queen Latifah, Martin Short). We toured around the US and Europe.

After that, I kept myself busy writing, producing and performing. I releasedClassic New Rock, and joined another band, Honey River. I've also been touring with legendary rock groupThe Babys, who reformed in 2013 and have since released a new album titled I'll Have Some of That! which included the song "I See You There"(which I wrote).

Kris Dream Brother

Kris Dream Brother

Kristofer Winrich was born with an adoration for music. His parents are both incredibly talented musicians/singers that met while their respective bands borrowed equipment from each other. They were married and the perfect recipe for musically inclined children was created and their three sons were born. Kris is the eldest of the three, all of whom are currently working with music and making their livings off of what they love. While Kris had initially learned drums and piano at age six, he didn’t pick up the guitar until about ten years later. He fell in love with the instrument for it’s expressive qualities. He began to perform live at the age of seventeen on a weekly basis and continues to do so to this day. Kris began working in the studio on several different projects for the past couple of years and finds that the most prolific, productive, and stimulating work is done here.

The name Dream Brother comes from a inspiration of Kris’,  Jeff Buckley. Jeff Buckley’s talent and inventiveness was seen as genius to Kris. Kris admired Buckley’s ability to change the feel and the mood of a song through his extraordinarily wide vocal range within various points of the song itself.  Jeff Buckley recorded a song titled “Dream Brother” that was the last track on his only studio album entitled “Grace”.
